Growing and developing peoples' choices

We are working in partnership with other like-minded people and organisations, like you2choose, to look for and encourage new people and providers to enter the 'social and health market-place'
We want to create opportunities for people to use their imagination to think of different and new ways to find the support they need to do the things that are important to them
At the same time we want to create opportunities for organisations and groups of people to use their imagination to think about new ways of working and supporting people
We want to connect people who have money to spend on their support, services and products with new and existing providers interested in discovering how they might do things differently
What will we do to help to make this happen?
self direct will:
work with you2choose to develop and grow the number of people using and benefiting from this innovative website
organise self direct fairs
working with local people, together we will encourage local people, groups of people and national organisations that wouldn't normally think of taking part in 'social and health' focussed events to take part, such as local accountants and the National Trust
the self direct fairs will also include new and safe ways for people to share their support plans with potential providers and groups who may be able to offer support to help people get a life that's right for them
Other events that are aimed at providing new ways for people to be connected with providers include:
real life cafes
Real life cafes will be organised, working with local cafes and bars that want to work with the local community in providing a safe, relaxed but at the same time stimulating enviroment for people and providers to mix and share ideas
speed connecting
Working in a similar way to 'speed connecting' these events will provide people with the opportunity to meet safely with other people to find out what they have in common, like a shared interest, to help them think about setting up shared activities using their pooled Individaul Budgets
