Changing support and services
We want to help local providers to change the way they provide support and services
we want to work closely with providers of support and services to think through the issues and practical application of the ethical principles of Self-Directed Support
we want to create the right setting that gives providers the freedom to share their concerns and hopes for the future
at the same time we want to create the opportunities to share experience and knowledge about what is already happening across the UK to give people who are looking for support the freedom to think about different ways to be supported and live their life in a way that's right for them
'Helping providers to change' was a day 2 event that we ran throughout 2008 and 2009 across the UK
We worked with providers across the UK that wanted to start the process of changing what they do in order to deliver support and services that people want and expect
these events were for small groups of providers, up to a maximum of 16 delegates, giving plenty of time for raising questions, engaging in discussion and having time to listen to and ask questions of people seeking to live a more independent life, including people who have direct experience of using an Individual or Personal Budget
This work has now been written up and the book 'Helping providers to change' has been published by The Centre for Welfare Reform, which you can buy from us
Connecting organisations that want to offer support to other organisations
we will act to connect larger organisations able to offer support to smaller organisations that don't directly compete with each other
Tailored events for providers wishing to work in more detail
we can work with individual providers to design tailored learning and development sessions to meet identified organisational change needs and to support the strategic planning process
