members of self direct support over 100,000 people to achieve control and choice in their lives, anyone can join self direct as a member and be part of the changes that are needed; as a member you can join other like minded people at our first Member's Meeting in Spring 2012
we are passionate about making sure that any changes are driven by people with real life experience of how services affect lives and peer support has a vital part to play in making this a reality for people like Sarah and Adam; read Sarah's blogs to find out how Self-Directing Support can transform lives
we work with people that use services, their families and friends, community groups, providers of services and other professionals to find new and imaginative ways to bring about these changes and our book 'Helping providers to change' gives examples of how to make practical changes to services
in July 2011 our sister organisation self direct Australia started sharing the work we have done in the UK with providers in Australia
in 2012 self direct celebrates 4 years of helping to change the 'social and health market-place' and we want to share our learning about this new approach through our wide range of expert speakers
some people call this new approach Personalisation or Citizenship or Self-Directed Support or Citizen Directed Support, we support all these models and agendas and work to take them forward
*Please note during the Festive Season our office reception will be closed from 12 noon 23rd December 2011 and will re-open 8.30 am 3rd January 2012, if you need to contact self direct during office hours during this time please call 07814574307
We want to work with other like-minded people and organisations across the UK to find new and imaginative ways to bring about the changes needed in the "social and health market-place". Find out how you can get involved »
